Suzuki Cymru Summer Workshop 23rd - 26th July 2020Join Suzuki Cymru on our Summer Course 4 day workshop from Thursday 22nd to Sunday the 25th of July 2021. The course is suitable for pianists of all ages and abilities and will be held at RAF St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan. Superb teaching will feature from renowned Suzuki practitioners Sue Bird, Shih-Ching Wei-Pritchard and Graham Rix. The aim of the course is to inspire young pianists and to motivate their further development through a range of activities designed to supplement their learning and also to help them grow in confidence. Here in Wales we believe in ensuring that music remains every child's birthright and not a privilege as is becoming increasingly common, therefore our courses are designed to be highly affordable for all families. Our non-residential course allows families to cater for their own budget or sense adventure from camping (with all the mod cons of course!) through to the various B&B or hotel options within the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan.
Learning OpportunitiesParticipants will receive an individual lesson with one of our highly trained faculty members to develop their own personal playing technique. Lessons will provide children and parents with dedicated improvement points designed to compliment your child's regular teacher's advice. Additionally, children will take part in a group lesson which will help to gain ensemble experience through familiar Suzuki repertoire, with additional activities planned for enriching each child's musical experience appropriate to their age and developmental needs. We will also be offering each child the opportunity to experience playing in a piano trio with our very own violin and cellist Charlie MacClure and Hannah Clist , who will be on hand to guide each child regardless of their ability through the process of an ensemble rehearsal. Book 1 & 2 children will play Suzuki repertoire and children in Book 3 upwards can select their own piano trio pieces and children will perform their piano trios in our final concert on Sunday afternoon. Children will also get the chance to develop their creative skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere as we will be offering group lessons to enhance each child's experience of playing with others, working through our common Suzuki repertoire and new exciting ideas such as improvisation and ensemble playing.
Family FunThe course will run from 9.00am, until 12.30pm or from 1.30pm until 5.00pm. Refreshments will be included, tea and coffee for parents, drinks for children and a snack. However, meals and accommodation will not be included. Free time can then be spent exploring the local area, this part of Wales is famous for coastline and castles, as well as the capital city of Cardiff being a 30-minute drive or train journey. Evening excursions will be planned to include food such as Fish and Chips at Barry Island beach, take away and movie night, pub quiz etc.
